Comet 2000 WM1 (LINEAR)


This shot was taken on the 10th of Dec. 2001 by Stewart Leffanue and is a 5 minute exposure .The main galaxy in the picture is ngc 253 and the bright star is Beta Cetus. Taken near Mt . Pleasant , South Australia.

Taken on the night of the 9th of January near Coonalpyn in the south east of South Australia. An 11 minute hand guided exposure, taken by Kearn Jones , the bright star near the comets false nucleus is Gamma Indus. The ion tail is 6 long degrees to the edge of the photo in the image.

5 minute exposure of comet LINEAR WM1 , taken on the morning of the 5th February 2002 under a waning gibbous moon ( 40 % moonlight ) and near morning twilight . Photo by K. Jones and S. Leffanue. Taken near Walker Flat , South Australia. The whole tail stretches to around 5 degrees long.

15 minute exposure , taken on the morning of the 13 / Feb / 2002 ( 12 / Feb UT ) by S.Leffanue and K.Jones ..near Mt Pleasant in South Australia . The comet is crowned by the constellation of Corona Australias. WM1 has a three and a half degree tail in the photo .

All shots on this page were hand guided . The equipement used was a 105 mm tamron lens and pentax camera body , piggy backed on a Celestron GP C8 . The film used was fuji 8oo .
